Our Team of Chiropractors and Massage Therapists at the Chiropractic Health Centre in Calgary

Jamila Abdulla - Chiropractor

As a dedicated athlete myself, I understand how pain can weasel its way into your life and affect your routines, work, or hobbies.

Whether you are experiencing chronic shoulder, neck and back pain from sitting behind a desk all day, or a sport injury from your last competition/triathlon/game, a bad fall, or you simply slept the wrong way the other night -- pain in stranger to no one. This is why I do what I do.

As a chiropractor, I treat every patient with an entirely personalized treatment plan that is re-evaluated at the start and end of each appointment so that the best course of action to achieve pain relief is one that is developed by both myself and the patient together.

These plans never only include manual adjustments: I also firmly believe in treating the surrounding soft tissue for lasting benefits - and this is where my practice differs from the usual approach to chiropractic care.

For cases where rehabilitation is needed for an injury, or where pain management requires extra attention, I look to incorporate other therapies such as Graston Technique, Active Release Techniques, Contemporary Medical Acupuncture or Massage Therapy when it is appropriate. These services can help speed up the healing process and are all available within my clinic.

Dr. Evan Durnin - Chiropractor

My name is Evan Durnin, and I am the most recent addition to the team at CHC. I am a native Calgarian, and am excited to be back in Alberta after 4 years in Toronto, where I underwent postgraduate studies in chiropractic at the Canadian
Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC).

For me, the decision to become a chiropractor began during my university education at the University of Lethbridge. I was majoring in Exercise Science and began to realize that if I really wanted to have a major impact on the well-being and performance of both everyday people as well as athletes I would have to pursue more schooling.

My time at CMCC was amazing; my education was focused on human anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, performance, and nutrition, all subjects I had already grown to enjoy. I matured to focus my energy during school towards becoming the best evidence based chiropractor I possibly could be, and found that many factors were necessary to do so. I gained external certifications as an upper extremity, lower extremity, and spine certified Active Release Techniques (ART) ® provider, as well as in modules 1 and 2 of Graston ® Techniques soft tissue therapy. While in Toronto I attended McMaster University in Hamilton and gained my certification in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, which is a human performance and function based program utilizing electro acupuncture, which I believe is extremely useful.

My philosophy is the more tools you have in your box the less everything looks like a nail. The human body is extremely intricate and every single injury will be different, especially between two people. For this purpose I devote a large part of my time towards finding the specific tissue that is injured and the specific cause as to why. All of my treatment plans are designed by myself and the patient to
include any therapy we can offer which will provide relief and benefit. I work with my patients as a team with high amounts of communication, and goal oriented chiropractic treatment, but never rush through a treatment.
